Search and Rescue (SAR) issues have always been high up on the agenda of the International Maritime Organization
(IMO). However, a number of activities are carried out by various players within the SAR community that are not always reported to the appropriate IMO committees for a number of reasons. In order to gather more information about these developments the IMO MSC has given the task to the World Maritime University (WMU) to search for information about research projects, training courses and other relevant developments within the SAR community. WMU will collect information and summarize it. The analysis of these summaries will be reported to IMO.
The most important tool for the information gathering is this SAR information platform. Feel free to browse through our website. There are currently a number of interesting items already available and it is our hope that the platform will grow in both scope and content.
If you would like to gain full access to this portal, please complete the free registration application ( Register yourself ). As a registered user you will have access to full text reports and other documents as well as web-links to related sites. In addition, you will have access to the portal member directory and have read/write access to various SAR forums as they are developed. Finally, you will be able to submit documents and information on search and rescue initiatives you may be involved with for inclusion in this portal and for the information of the IMO.
